May 24.2009 - Parmand Telecom - Re-holding third mobile phone operator tender will not much time since its official process is being passed, parliament telecommunication committee head said.

"Third operator tender official and legal process is being studied. Re-holding third operator tender is not contrary to the law," Ali Motahari told Irans mobile news agency.

"Those who participated in the third operator tender can attend in second round. Also the consortiums change, increase or decrease is possible in second round," he added.

Zain-Iran consortium compromising of Iran Broadcasting retired fund, retired teachers fund and Kuwaiti operator Zain was selected as second winner of third operator tender after Tamin-Etisalat consortium.

Also Omantel Company ranked third winner of third operator tender after Etisalat and Kuwaiti Zain. Tamin-Etisalat consortium compromises of Tamin Telecom company affiliated with Social Insurance investment and Emirates operator Etisalat was selected as Iran third operator tender winner on 21 January.

It was planned that the operator to attract 17 million subscribers during 15 years and to pay 160,000 trillion rials to Iran government during this period. But telecommunication minister announced on 10 May that Etisalat could not use the investment opportunity in Iran third mobile phone operator tender.
