Iran, Turkey Seeking to Boost Cooperation in Telecommunications PDF Print E-mail

June 06.2009 - Parmand Telecom - Tehran and Ankara signed an agreement on mutual cooperation in the field of telecommunications technology at the end of a meeting of the two countries' joint commission.
 
The agreement was signed during a visit to Turkey by Iranian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Mohammad Soleimani.

Soleimani arrived in Ankara, Turkey at the head of a delegation on Thursday on an official two-day visit to attend a joint commission meeting and confer with Turkish Minister of Transportation and Communications Binali Yildirim on expanding ties in the sphere of telecommunications.

According to the agreement, Iran will use Turkish telecommunications network to connect itself to Turkey and western world, Ahmad Pour-Rahimnia, a member of the Iranian delegation said.

And Turkey, for its turn, will use Iran's telecommunication network to connect to the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as Iran's neighbors and the Persian Gulf states, he added.  During his sojourn in Turkey, Soleimani is also scheduled to visit a center for research and technology in the country.
