May 11.2009 - Parmand Telecom - Telecommunication minister announced that the second phase of pilot 3G technology will be implemented in Tehran by Chinese Company, ZTE.

"3G mobile phone technology pilot project was implemented with four stations in Tehran for some subscribers in last year. ZTE Company will install and launch the project second phases with new equipments and new services soon," Kamal Mahamedpour told Irans mobile news agency.

"3G pilot will be implemented in separate networks, but we try to test this project on the state-owned Mobile Company of Iran and second operator networks," he said.


"The project goal is communication and connection between 2G and 3G technologies. Some negotiations have been made with first and second operators in order to test the project abilities," he said.

"By implementing this pilot phase Telecommunication research center experts will be familiar with 3G network details," research, training and international affair deputy said.

Currently first operator offers its services on 2G and 2.5G networks, Irancell network according to its license is 2.75G. And third operator should offer 3G technology.

Among most important features of 3G technology is transferring data with high speed which will facilitates access to internet.
Iran has 45 million mobile phone subscribers and third operator should attract 17 million subscribers in 15 years.
