September 19.2010 - Parmand Telecom - Lebanese Telecommunications Minister Charbel Nahas in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Qazanfar Roknabadi stressed his country's willingness to increase cooperation with Tehran in different engineering and technical fields, specially in telecommunications.


During the meeting on Friday, Nahas praised Iran's progresses in different economic and industrial fields, and stressed Beirut's eagerness to expand cooperation with Iran.

He also asked for the Iranian companies' partnership in the implementation of different projects in Lebanon.

Also in the meeting, the two sides reiterated the need for bolstering and promoting the level of their joint cooperation in telecommunications, communication and production and creation of fiber-optic networks.

The two officials further underlined the necessity of implementing the agreements already held between the two countries.

Roknabadi, for his part, conveyed an invitation from the Iranian communication and information technology minister to Nahas to pay a visit to Iran, which was welcomed by the Lebanese side.

Tehran and Beirut enjoy friendly and close ties due to Iran's support for the establishment of security and tranquility in Lebanon.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Ali al-Shami in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki on the sidelines of an urgent meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in June underlined Beirut's resolve to reinvigorate relations with Tehran.

According to diplomatic sources, Iran's President Ahmadinejad is due to pay an official visit to Lebanon in the near future.
